Old New England Christmas Garland Ideas
"Deck the halls with boughs of holly"..... and greens, and ribbons, and baubles, and lights.
It's no secret that I love decorating for the holidays and I am always searching for new and special holiday decorating ideas. When Christmas rolls around, there is no stopping me! Our basement has two shelved walls of boxes full of Christmas ornaments and seasonal holiday decorations, organized by color, and each year I create a different color theme and style theme in our home. This year, I was inspired not only by the Federal mirror I picked up at a local consignment store, but a roll of metallic Tartan wrapping paper of muted gold, red, and green.
For the Christmas garland below, I started with an inexpensive store-bought evergreen Christmas garland, then layered on a faux magnolia leaf garland, added lights, ornaments, then live greens were tucked in to finish of this stairway Christmas garland.
Below are more festive ideas for Christmas garlands used over fireplace mantles, doorways, and staircase railings with a few curated items below some of the photos that can achieve a similar look.

Topiaries in urns sit atop the fireplace mantle grounded by a lush magnolia leaf garland.
