A visit to the HGTV "Restoring Salem" home - Beverly Farms, MA

During an early November morning, I had the opportunity to tour a home that was restored by Charrissa Vitas and Mike Becker, the force behind the HGTV show Restoring Salem. At the time of this post, the home was under agreement, but I wanted to give you a visual tour to show you the completed work inside.  For those who are true historic preservationists.... When you see the renovations, please keep in mind that this home had been renovated in the 70's, and who knows how many times before, so Charrissa and Mike had to fix a lot of out-of-code issues that actually caused structural damage and problems in the home.

The cobblestones lining the path were once the walkway to the home, but were taken over by the lawn and almost covered completely.

This is part of the home this is believed to be dated around 1680. A new kitchen can be seen in the distance and a second floor was removed exposing the amazing post and beam framing in the now living room.

A view out the front windows from the living room.

Ready for entertaining the table in the dining room was set with a custom leaf runner.

Charrissa and Mike in a room they named the "Scotch Room".

A small guest bedroom was created on the first floor, but would also make for a great office or sitting room

A new kitchen was installed and includes everything needed for modern living, including a wine fridge.

Painted in Benjamin Moore - Hale Navy, A headboard for the master bedroom was created from a repurposed fireplace surround.
