Easy ice cream recipe made with lavender and vanilla beans

IMG_0335.JPG

Hello kindred spirits! A week or so ago, I put aside some time and made my very first batch of an easy homemade ice cream and I must say I really had fun with the process and the ice cream came out great!

Please don’t let the words “Lavender” Ice Cream turn you off. I say this because I know it did for me, but I decided to go for it and try and I’m glad I did. I added fresh vanilla bean to the easy ice cream recipe and that is what I tasted the most.

If you would like to watch how to make an easy ice cream recipe that can be made to your liking, I am embedding my YouTube video below. Below that, I will also add the recipe for the no churn ice cream.

1 14 oz can of condensed milk

3 tablespoons dried lavender buds

2 cups heavy cream

1 vanilla bean

2 teaspoons vanilla

  1. If using lavender. Combine condensed milk and lavender buds in a medium saucepan and heat on low until bubble start to form around the edge or a slow roll boil. Let stand covered for about 20 minutes. Strain out lavender buds. Add vanilla bean,. Let cool for 1 hour before adding to the whipped cream. (this process can be skipped if using flavors that do not need drawn out of a flower or items such as the lavender)

  2. Before making the whipped cream, the condensed milk mixture should now be in a large bowl

  3. In another bowl, beat the heavy cream and vanilla until if forms soft peaks.

  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixture.

  5. If you choose to add different ingredients, like chocolate chips, or strawberries, you can add them now.

  6. Transfer the mixture to a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan or two 1-pint freezer containers.

  7. Freeze for at least 8 hours or until firm

This mixture will be hard for scooping, but will soften and melt quickly, so try to enjoy it as soon as it is served.

When I served mine in a silver bowl, it stayed nice and cold for quite awhile vs in glass.

My recipe did not turn a soft purple as seen in the magazine, but maybe you will have a different outcome. Please let me know if you do! I made a second easy strawberry ice cream batch and it was delicious too!
