Easy Homemade Granola Recipe from New England

I have been putting off making granola for an uncountable number of years, okay my whole life, and I don’t know why. I heard making granola was easy, and I have had many batches of homemade granola at New England Inns, such as the Ipswich Inn in Ipswich, MA, and most recently a friend’s homemade batch; she got her recipe from the Castle Hill Inn, also in Ipswich, MA.. I am so glad I finally made a batch of this New England style granola, with local maple syrup, and I know I will be making many more batches of this homemade Maple granola.

Below you will find the ingredients and very easy steps. I know future batches will have additional ingredients such as chopped dates, raisins, or dried cranberries.

Ingredients:

3 Cups Rolled Oats

1 Cup Raw Sunflower Seeds

1 Cup Raw Pumpkin Seeds

1 Cup Unsweetened Coconut Flakes

1 1/4 Cup lightly diced pecans

3/4 Cup maple syrup

1/2 Cup olive oil

Pinch of salt

Directions:

Mix all of the dry ingredients together well, then add the maple syrup and olive oil and once again mix well.

Spread evenly in a baking sheet. (It will look like a lot, but as it bakes, it will slowly shrink down)

Bake for 45 minutes at 300 degrees (No need to go over 45 minutes. It might not look done, but it should be)

Make sure to stir the mixture every 10 to 15 minutes while it is baking.

Once done, take it out of the oven and let cool before storing in an airtight container.
